Message From Lucas Shroades

God cares about middle school youth. We believe that regardless what the world may say about middle schoolers, we know that God cares about this age group. Jesus died for middle school youth. So it is a joy for me and the team of middle school youth leaders to partner with parents to share Christ’s love with middle school youth here at First Friends. We want to see youth grow each day in their true identity in Christ and learn how to walk with Him daily!

I have been a part of this church for nearly all my life and have served with the Middle School Ministry since the fall of 2020. I have been on the church staff since 2022.

​

I’m married to my wonderful wife, Courteney and we have been married for a little over two years now. We have a daughter, Selah, born August 2024.Courteney is a middle school history teacher and has been serving in youth ministry for more than nine years. I studied ministry at Malone University and the Wheaton College Graduate School. I have lived in Ohio and Wisconsin and have served in youth ministry in both a church and Christian camp setting for over twelve years. It is such a blessing to look back and see the many ways that the Lord has worked in my life. I love canoeing, hiking, a good book, and a good podcast. I’m looking forward to meeting each middle school student and family throughout the year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out!
