OVERWELMED or OVERFLOWING
I was at a Conference today; an event where I am spending some time to help build into me what I am called to be. I am hearing a lot of good stuff. A fire hydrant of substance and information. Many of us has a fire hydrant of substance and information in our lives. Work, school, sports, family, friends, taking care of the house, hobbies, technology, and more can keep us hopping, My question is, "how do we not get overwhelmed by this fire hydrant of substance and information?"
I believe it has to do with understanding the purpose of the fire hydrant. if we are standing against the water from the hydrant, we will more than likely get overwhelmed. If we are trying to keep up with hydrant, we will be more than likely to get overwhelmed. But if we use the water coming from the hydrant toward a focused purpose, we will see the fullness of water (substance) as useful and even good. So what is the purpose of all this substance and information coming into our lies?
Jesus said that the two greatest commandments are to "Love the Lord, your God with all your heart, all our soul, all your strength, and all your mind" and to "love your neighbor as yourself." When we focus on the stuff of life, and not God and neighbor, we get easily overwhelmed. But when we focus on loving God and each neighbor that brings life to us.
All this substance can be used
to fill us and bless others.
We are meant to love God and bless others. This only happens if we get our focus right. it all beings with the right view of God and people. We have the type of creator that loves us before He calls us to love. He created us and this grand earth we live in . He sent His Son to die for our sins and to invite us to being shepherded by Him. To receive this into each part of our lives has the power to change the way we look at each part of our live. And this God sent His Son to die for those around us; at home, at sports, at work, at school, with friends, with family, and more. To look at the people around us as of worth to God. God has the power to change how we interact with each person we come in contact with during our day.
2 Corinthians 5:14 - 16 says " For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer."
Each person in our day matters.
Each part of our day is an invitation to the divine. to receive God's love, to love God, and to share God's love. If we try to focus on all the breaths at once, we will be overwhelmed by the hydrant of life. But if we take one breath at a time. And use each breath for God's purpose in our life. I believe our life experience will be very different. God Bless all of us in our pursuit of living life breath by breath. Of using the hydrant of life for it's right purpose.
